How do you know if you are leading a happy life? Do you stop to think about it?
As I was approaching a very special Birthday, it made me realize and stop to think for a moment as I entered into a new “phase” of life. I can recall my 30th birthday as being depressed and feeling like the world was going to end. Although I was travelling at the time, searching for myself, and pursuing my dreams…. somehow i was still sad…
This time around on my 40th birthday,:) I feel different. A decade has passed and I feel like it was just a blink of an eye. Yes I am older. So? That’s a good thing. I have learned to embrace the years that I have experienced the MOST out of my life….
From marriage, to self-discovery, India, Kirtan Yoga, to the greatest one of all, Motherhood. Being a mother has definitely challenged me in many ways, for the better and in far more ways that yoga would have ever accomplished. From humbleness, serving, having more patience, and caring for someone else other than myself in a totality made me realize so much about humanity and the importance of happiness and what it really takes to be happy… in 2 words –
Paying Attention
Paying attention to the ones you love, to yourself and to the community…BE Present!
So, as I approach the next decade of my life…. I hope to pay more attention to my surroundings and my own self…I leave you with a quote:
“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”
Peace,
Lea
